Yesterday, in preparation for a trip with my family, I loaded up 300 lbs of weight into the back of the truck so I would be able to continue training while I’m gone. I plan to work out as much as I can at a local crossfit box, but I also need to continue on the planned workouts from my coach. It is not customary to be able to do your own thing when visiting crossfit boxes.
Working out alone is a little more difficult than training in a group setting. I have to have my own motivation to get the work done. Since I have so many goals, including a competition in 2 weeks at my home box, I don’t find it difficult to find the motivation most of the time. What I find the most difficult is coaching myself. I can’t see myself lift, so I have to find my errors on feel. I also have to be a little more careful to avoid injury because I am by myself.
I am fortunate to be able to have the equipment to be able to bring my workout with me while I travel. I am also looking forward to visiting the local box to see friends that I have met in the past. I am hoping to keep my motivation high and my workouts intense so I can continue to make progress in my training.
What do you do when you are forced to find your motivation alone? Do you step up to the challenge or wait for someone to motivate you?
