Stuffed Peppers

Prep Time: 20 Min.     Cook Time: 1 Hour     Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 green, red, yellow, or orange bell peppers
  • 2 8oz. cans tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped tomato
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a skillet over medium heat, cook the beef until evenly browned.  Add the onion, tomato, and celery and cook until slightly softened. (Or cook in another pan)  Remove and discard the tops, seeds, and membranes of the bell peppers.  Arrange peppers in a baking dish with the hollowed sides facing upward (slice the bottoms of the peppers if necessary so that they stand upright).  In a bowl, mix the browned beef, cooked vegetables, one can of tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.  Spoon an equal amount of the mixture into each hollowed pepper.  Mix the remaining tomato sauce and Italian seasoning in a bowl and pour over the stuffed peppers, if desired.  Bake one hour in the oven until the peppers are tender.
