Yesterday, I turned 40 years old. I was a little disappointed that I was no longer in my 30′s, but my friend reminded me that I was 40 and fit. As I thought about that statement, I was glad that she didn’t have to say I was 40 and fat. I also thought how much my life has changed in the last 2 years. I am fitter now than I ever imagined I would be, and it came to be because of a choice. It really was a series of choices, but I chose to be fit instead of fat. I chose to be healthy instead of sick. I chose to change my nutrition instead of chasing my food addictions. I chose to be fit. That will be my choice for the rest of my life. So which do you choose…fit or fat?
Fit and Fat…the words couldn’t be more opposite. Separated by only one vowel, but their meaning is so different. Fit means living a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is good nutrition in your diet, exercise to keep the body moving and strong, and keeping your motivation high so you can keep up with the fast paced demands of life. It is a whole life change. Fat is living an unhealthy lifestyle. An unhealthy lifestyle is sets the body up for failure with poor nutrition, little exercise, and lack of motivation. It is a vicious cycle.
I believe you must make a choice to be fit or fat. Whatever you choose is shown to yourself and to the world in your actions. You can eat healthy, even in a restaurant. You can exercise daily. You can improve your mental health and live a happier, motivated life. The choice is up to you. Will you choose to be Fit or Fat?
